Monday, December 21st and Tuesday, December 22nd

Van Wert City Schools will be using our DISTRICT DETERMINED REMOTE LEARNING PLAN on Monday, December 21st and Tuesday, December 22nd.  Students will not be attending school in person; instead, instruction will be received remotely from home.  During this time, VWCS teachers and all employees will be working from their classrooms or workspace all day and will be available from 8:00-10:00 each morning to answer emails and/or phone calls.  Students will operate on a two-hour delay schedule meaning they will start their remote learning from home at 10:00.  Teachers will instruct students through ECHO or Google Classroom using ZOOM, recorded lessons, and posted activities and assessments following their established class schedule.  Students are required to complete and submit all assigned activities and assessments by the stated deadline.

Some reasons we are making this calendar adjustment include:

1.  To ensure the VWCS Remote Learning Plan will work and to make adjustments as needed.

2.  To ensure that all students have appropriate internet connectivity and are able to continue their education in the best possible way in the event that an extended period of remote learning would be required.

Students who are currently on a PARENT SELECTED REMOTE LEARNING PLAN will continue on that plan.  If the schedule will change for these students, teachers will communicate the information next week.

The week of December 14-18 your student’s building principal and teachers will give you specific instructions on how these days will be constructed.  Your child will bring home the necessary equipment and materials to ensure that remote learning activities are productive.

Thanks for all you have done to support VWCS and dealing with a challenging year.   The 2020-2021 school year has certainly been unique and one of a kind.  We must continue to be prepared and flexible each day as we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic.  VWCS will continue to communicate any changes or updates as they arise.  We have been very fortunate to be able to provide instruction since August 24th face to face, with the hope that will continue once we come back from our winter holidays.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all Cougars and Don’t Stop Believing!
