Van Wert City Schools will be using our DISTRICT DETERMINED REMOTE LEARNING PLAN on Friday, February 19th and Friday, March 12th. Students will not be attending school in person; instead, instruction will be received remotely from home. During those 2 days from 7:30-9:30am, many VWCS teachers and employees will be getting their Covid-19 vaccines. Students will operate on a two-hour delay schedule meaning they will start their remote learning from home at 10:00am. Teachers will instruct students through ECHO or Google Classroom using ZOOM, recorded lessons, and posted activities and assessments following their established class schedule. Students are required to complete and submit all assigned activities and assessments by the stated deadline. In the event that the Van Wert County Health Department does not receive the vaccines, these dates are subject to change. These will be the last 2 planned remote learning days of the year for VWCS.
Students who are currently on a PARENT SELECTED REMOTE LEARNING PLAN will continue on that plan. If the schedule will change for these students, teachers will communicate the information next week.
The week of February 15th and March 8th building principals and teachers will give you specific instructions on how these 2 days will be constructed. Your child will bring home the necessary equipment and materials to ensure that remote learning activities are productive.
Thanks for all you have done to support VWCS and dealing with a challenging year. The 2020-2021 school year has certainly been unique and one of a kind. We must continue to be prepared and flexible each day as we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic. VWCS will continue to communicate any changes or updates as they arise. We have been very fortunate to be able to provide instruction since August 24th face to face, and we plan to come back from Spring Break the last 9 weeks having no more remote days at VWCS.
Have a great, warm week and Don’t Stop Believing!
